FIM
DESCRIPTION
File Integrity Monitoring is a technology that monitors and detects changes in files that could be indicative of a cyberattack. Also known as change monitoring, FIM specifically involves examining files to see if and when they change, how they change, who changed them, and what can be done to restore those files if those modifications are not authorized.
WHY IT´S IMPORTANT?
Curiosity killed the cat is a phrase that fits within this context because a cat in its eagerness to look at what is happening can affect the integrity of a space, something similar to what can happen with the files of an organization, the FIM will help to know who is accessing the critical files and when changes occur, Additionally this is required by regulatory standards and laws, such as PCI DSS, HIPAA and GDPR, this is necessary to protect your organization’s critical assets and data and detect a breach.
